Who We Are

Malamute Matters is run by its trustees — volunteers who give their time free of charge to govern the charity, steer our fundraising and make sure the money reaches the dogs.

Our trustees

The people behind the charity

Our trustees are the charity's board. They set the direction, approve where funding goes and are accountable to the Charity Commission for how Malamute Matters is run.

Chairman (Trustee) Appointed 16 April 2024

I’m a father, married to Sarah, and have loved Malamutes for many years.

We had a beautiful Malamute called Storm, and he was such a character. We’d love another, but for now our two young children take up all our time.

A successful businessman and computer software developer, I came on board to help the charity with IT and business, and to help the dogs in need.

Vice Chair (Trustee) Appointed 16 April 2024

I’m Louise, I was originally just a member as I had 2 Mals. I then became a volunteer then secretary.

I have a few snowdogs, one being the famous Blaize and one being Nookie the logo dog. If I’m not with the dogs I’m at a gig or a festival!

Treasurer (Trustee) Appointed 22 April 2024

I’m 59 years old and live with my partner, 2 dogs and 3 cats.

Misha is a white husky and whilst not totally typical of her breed can be a bit of a diva. Oscar is a miniature golden Yorkshire terrier. What he lacks in size his personality makes up for it.

The 3 cats are Serren, Pebble and Asher. All very food orientated and absolutely are the mistresses of the household.

I love all animals (except spiders). I wanted to be a vet but life got in the way as it does. Now I work with numbers and trucks. I’m an accounts supervisor for a local transport company.

Secretary (Trustee) Appointed 16 April 2024

I’m 55, married, and a dad to two children. Dogs have been part of my life for as long as I can remember — they’ve always been family.

Right now that means an 11-year-old German Shepherd and a 6-year-old Springer Spaniel who keep the house lively. Just over a year ago we said goodbye to Tytan, our wonderful wonky Malamute, who made it to 12. He left a big gap, but the love and chaos of living with snow dogs never really goes away.

I’m active across multiple snow-dog communities and accounts, sharing the everyday reality of life with these beautiful, strong-willed breeds.

Director Trustee Appointed 16 April 2024

I’m a mother of five and a grandmother of five. My Malamute journey began when I rescued Tala off Gumtree — an entire female, given away free, and in a dreadful state. I’d read all the books, but owning a Malamute left me totally out of my depth, so I joined Malamute Matters to get help.

Six months later Chester arrived in my life. I did his transport run to foster care: three and a half hours with his foot on my shoulder and his tongue in my ear — and he stunk! About eight weeks later I adopted him.

Since then I’ve been raising funds for MM by doing shows and events, though my health now stops me doing the heavy lifting. Chester died on Christmas Day 2021 aged 11, and Tala followed on 14 May 2022 aged 14½. Now we have Jasper, a three-year-old red Malamute.

Sarah Cooper

Sarah Cooper

Fundraising Coordinator

I am a Mum to 2 young boys and the wife of Paul. I have worked as a Support Worker for 13 years, caring for the elderly.

I was first introduced to Malamutes when I met my husband in 2018 who owned a gorgeous Mal named Storm.

I have a long history of fundraising, assisting in event organising, running games and developing/designing the Charity’s Annual Calendar. I am thankful to have been given this opportunity to work with and help support the charity.

Our trustees are unpaid volunteers. Malamute Matters Limited is a charitable company registered in England & Wales — registered charity no. 1158157, company no. 09155110. Our trustee details and annual filings are published on the Charity Commission register.

And everyone else

It takes more than a board

Behind the trustees is a much larger group of volunteers and supporters — the people running stalls, donating auction lots, entering the calendar, sharing appeals and buying from the shop. There are no salaries here. Everything is done by people who simply wanted to help.
