All breeds
The name says malamute and that's where we began, but a dog in trouble is a dog in trouble. We don't turn a case away over its breed.
Home / About Us
We're a volunteer-run fundraising charity. We don't take dogs in — we raise the money that pays their vet bills, wherever in the world they are.
Malamute Matters began life as a Facebook group — owners of Alaskan Malamutes and other breeds, swapping photos and advice. Then one of our own needed help: a malamute called Alfie, facing costly surgery to save his eyesight.
We asked. Our members answered, and raised double what Alfie needed — enough to help him and two other sled dogs besides. That was the moment we understood what a group of determined dog people could actually do.
We became a registered charity in 2014. We started with malamutes, but it was obvious we could help far more dogs than that, so today we help all breeds, in the UK and overseas — because all dogs matter.
Every penny we raise helps the dogs that need us the most.
The name says malamute and that's where we began, but a dog in trouble is a dog in trouble. We don't turn a case away over its breed.
We're registered in England and Wales and we fund cases from Ireland and Cyprus to Dubai, China, Australia and the USA.
We concentrate on extreme abuse and emergency cases — the vet bills that are simply too big for a small rescue to absorb.
We're volunteer run. No salaries, no kennels, no offices — what we raise goes out again as funding for dogs.
Fundraising isn't a nice-to-have for us — it's the whole job. We donate what we raise towards veterinary funding for dogs worldwide. Here's what that pays for.
